Sanremo 2027 drops ‘New Proposals’ slot, winner of Sanremo Giovani joins Big artists
The 2027 edition of Italy’s Sanremo music festival will no longer feature a separate “New Proposals” (Nuove Proposte) competition. Under the new rules announced by artistic director Stefano De Martino, the winner of the Sanremo Giovani contest will go straight into the main lineup with the established “Big” artists. The change aligns with recent formats that have successfully integrated young talent, a move welcomed by industry figures such as FIMI president Enzo Mazza, who had previously advocated for the direct entry of the Giovani winner.
In a related interview, veteran singer Rita Pavone said she would like to return to the festival as a competitor, stating, “With a good song I would love to go back to Sanremo, not just as a guest but in the competition.” Pavone praised De Martino’s leadership, noting his musical abilities and expressing confidence that he will steer the event in the right direction.
