Sanremo 2027 Festival to Adopt New Format Under Artistic Director Stefano De Martino

The 77th edition of Italy’s Sanremo Festival, scheduled for 2027, will be overseen by new artistic director and host Stefano De Martino, who is working alongside co‑host Fabrizio Ferraguzzo. Organisers are planning a streamlined competition, cutting the contestant list to about 24 entries and removing the traditional split between “Big” artists and newcomers. A separate evening is also being considered to choose Italy’s Eurovision Song Contest representative, separating that selection from the main festival winner.

De Martino is reportedly pressing veteran singer‑songwriter Madame to return, while other high‑profile names mentioned as potential participants include Mahmood, Elodie, Blanco, Tony Effe, Emma Marrone and, most notably, rock legend Vasco Rossi. The director also aims to reduce the number of songs performed each night to create a lighter pace and give greater focus to each performance.
