Sant Antoni officials face scrutiny over private party and security

The Sant Antoni municipal government is facing political tension following a large-scale Egyptian-themed private party held at Sa Pedrera on August 13. While the local government claims only one noise complaint was registered at 1:12 PM, opposition members from the PSOE argue that residents filed multiple complaints and have criticized the event's scale and environmental impact, specifically the use of an artificial lake during a drought.

The event, organized by Van Wyck & Van Wyck, hosted between 300 and 500 guests. The organizers paid a 199 euro municipal fee and committed to a 50,000 euro donation to local charities.

Separately, the PSOE has called for the immediate resignation of Governance Councilor Neus Mateu. The opposition cites a lack of local police presence during a solar eclipse on August 12, describing the resulting traffic and security situation as a “disaster.” Mateu has denied allegations of being present in the VIP area of a nearby private party and attributed the security shortcomings to unexpected staff medical leaves and long-standing labor conflicts.
