Brazil police conduct multiple operations against organized crime and drug trafficking
Law enforcement agencies across Brazil have executed several operations targeting organized crime, drug trafficking, and various forms of theft.
In Ceará, Operation Impact targeted the Comando Vermelho faction in Fortaleza and its metropolitan region. The operation, which involved 19 arrest warrants and 58 search warrants, aimed to dismantle a scheme where the group allegedly attempted to monopolize internet services. Authorities successfully froze over R$ 9.2 million in assets linked to the investigation.
In Santa Catarina, Operation Crackers investigated an alleged scheme to hide arrest warrants within the national justice system. This investigation, a follow-up to Operation Cavalo de Troia, involved search and seizure warrants in Joinville and Penha to uncover methods used to alter records in the National Database of Penal Measures and Arrests (BNMP).
Other significant actions included the seizure of over 549 kilograms of marijuana from an abandoned vehicle in Ouroeste, São Paulo, and the arrest of two men in Valinhos, São Paulo, caught attempting to steal approximately R$ 500,000 in electronics. Additionally, in Rio de Janeiro, a drug leader known as Parazão died following a confrontation with police during Operation Barricada Zero.
In Mato Grosso, Operation Safe City resulted in the arrest of two fugitives in Cáceres, including one convicted of child sexual abuse.
