Santa Catarina reaches 3 million National Identity Card issuances

The Scientific Police of Santa Catarina has reached a milestone by issuing 3 million National Identity Cards (CIN). This figure represents approximately 36% of the state's population, positioning Santa Catarina among the Brazilian states with the highest volume of issuances for the new identification model.

The CIN transition is part of a national modernization effort to unify civil identification. The new document adopts the CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry) as the sole identification number across Brazil, eliminating the possibility of individuals holding different identity numbers issued by different states. This standardization aims to increase security and reduce duplication.

To ensure authenticity, the documents include features such as QR codes and are accessible via the GOV.BR digital application. The issuance process involves rigorous technical stages, including data collection, biometrics, photography, and multiple validation steps to ensure document security and citizen trust.
