Santa Caterina del Sasso Hermitage announces autumn programming

The Santa Caterina del Sasso Hermitage in Leggiuno, located on Lake Maggiore, has announced special autumn initiatives. From October 28 to November 18, 2026, the site will host “I mercoledì dell’Eremo” (The Hermitage Wednesdays), an experience managed by Archeologistics on behalf of the Province of Varese.

This weekly program offers guided tours and seasonal lunches at the Locanda Ristoro dell’Eremo, featuring menus based on local products. The initiative is designed to provide a slower, more tranquil experience of the historic religious site during the quieter autumn season. Reservations are mandatory for these sessions.

Additionally, the Hermitage will hold extraordinary openings on October 29 and 30, allowing visitors to explore the complex's history, art, and spirituality. The site, which dates back to the 12th century, is noted for its frescoes and its dramatic location built into the rock face overlooking the lake.
