Santa Cruz de Tenerife advances urban mobility and infrastructure updates
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is implementing several urban mobility and infrastructure updates. A dedicated taxi committee recently met to discuss the modernization of the local taxi sector. Key topics included the progressive renewal of fleets, the integration of electric vehicles, and the need for dedicated charging points at taxi stands. The meeting also addressed subsidies for security cameras, vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility, and improvements to taxi stop infrastructures.
Simultaneously, the city has launched a roadmap to update its traffic light network to comply with new national circulation regulations. This project, which aims to enhance pedestrian safety by modifying signal patterns, involves 262 interventions across the city. The restructuring is expected to cost over 260,000 euros and is scheduled for completion by mid-2027. The plan will be executed progressively, starting with 156 intersections, with work already completed at 13 locations.
