Santa Cruz de Tenerife celebrates Animal and Biodiversity Day

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible, held a celebration for Animal and Biodiversity Day at Plaza del Príncipe. The event brought together citizens, professional associations, and entities dedicated to animal protection and environmental conservation.

The program included educational and participatory activities designed for all ages, focusing on animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and biodiversity protection. Highlights included presentations by the Fundación Neotrópico, agility demonstrations by the Local Police Canine Guide Group, and workshops for children.

To promote animal welfare, more than 15 animal shelters and associations participated, offering information and presenting animals available for adoption. Veterinary professionals supervised pet parades to ensure all participating animals had the necessary documentation. Local officials, including Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez and Councilor Carlos Tarife, emphasized the importance of community commitment to protecting the region's natural wealth and promoting responsible coexistence.
