Santa Cruz launches extended rabies vaccination campaign

Health authorities in the Santa Cruz department of Bolivia have vaccinated 656,833 pets during a recent campaign, reaching 63% of the established departmental goal. To combat the risk of rabies transmission, the Departmental Health Service (Sedes) will extend free vaccination services for dogs and cats for the next three weeks.

The extension aims to reach an additional 169,000 animals to achieve an 80% coverage rate. This measure follows the registration of 15 canine rabies cases in the department during 2026. Vaccination will be available at health centers, including 12 and 24-hour facilities, alongside reinforced searches in specific areas to facilitate access.
