Santa Cruz to launch Electronic Civil Registry with digital certificates
The Government of Santa Cruz is preparing to launch an Electronic Civil Registry. In its initial phase, citizens will be able to request birth certificates through the official provincial website and receive them via email. These digital documents will feature a QR code to verify their authenticity.
Carla Bahamonde, the Undersecretary of Registry Affairs, stated that the system aims to link registry documentation to a unique file associated with each citizen's national identity document (DNI). Future modules will include marriage and death certificates. The province is currently digitizing physical books to preserve records and facilitate easier searches without requiring specific historical data like exact marriage dates.
