Santa Cruz Electronic Civil Registry implementation
Overview
The Santa Cruz provincial government is implementing an Electronic Civil Registry to modernize the management of vital records. This initiative, a collaboration between the Subsecretariat of Registry Affairs and the State Secretariat of Modernization and Technological Innovation, aims to strengthen information security, streamline administrative processes, and reduce paper consumption.
In the initial phase, citizens will be able to request birth certificates through the official provincial website and receive them via email. These digital documents will feature a QR code to verify authenticity. The system intends to link registry documentation to a unique file associated with each citizen’s national identity document (DNI).
As part of the transition, the province is digitizing physical books to preserve records and facilitate easier searches. Future modules are expected to expand the registry to include marriage and death certificates.
