Santa Fe officials coordinate with Argentine Navy for El Niño response

Santa Fe Mayor Juan Pablo Poletti and Rear Admiral Damián Gabriel Orgiazzi, commander of the Fluvial Naval Area, have met to coordinate prevention and assistance efforts in response to the projected El Niño phenomenon for the 2026-2027 season.

The coordination plan involves the Argentine Navy deploying logistical and sanitary support to the littoral region. Key resources include the multipurpose vessel ARA Ciudad de Zárate, the patrol boat ARA Punta Mogotes, amphibious vehicles, and mobile sanitary containers. The operation will utilize regional ports, with a logistical base established in the city of Santa Fe.

In addition to logistical support, Navy health professionals will be deployed to riverine communities to provide primary care and prophylaxis campaigns. These measures are intended to complement local and provincial emergency systems and protect vulnerable sectors from potential climate-related contingencies.
