Santa Fe Province Extends Social, Education, Health Emergency by One Year
Governor Maximiliano Pullaro signed decree 1257 to prolong the province‑wide emergency declared under Law 14.241, extending the social, educational and sanitary emergency for an additional year effective 23 June 2026. The extension was justified by persistent poverty and indigence levels – for example, 16.6 % of households in the Gran Rosario area and 22.8 % in Gran Santa Fe remain below the poverty line – and by a sharp rise in problematic drug consumption, which the provincial prevention agency reports has more than doubled between 2023 and 2025.
The decree also cites the national economic crisis that has strained public health services, increasing demand for hospital care as private coverage shrinks. By keeping the emergency measures in place, the provincial ministries of Equality and Human Development, Education, and Health will continue to guarantee basic rights to education, health, food security and child protection during this period of heightened vulnerability.
