Santa Fe logistics expansion and modernization
Entities: Misiones provincial government · Government of Santa Fe · Misiones Province · Buenos Aires provincial government · Santa Fe Province
Overview
Governor Maximiliano Pullaro’s emergency decree continues to pair aggressive fiscal measures with logistics upgrades. The Special Payment Plan entered its final week, with the enrolment deadline set for 31 July. More than 22,000 taxpayers—families, micro‑, small‑ and medium‑sized enterprises—have signed up to regularise provincial tax debts in up to 36 interest‑free installments. The bulk of enrolments remain in Plan A (families and SMEs), while Plan B attracted larger asset holders; Plans C and D saw minimal interest. Subsecretary Florencio Galíndez said the scheme is meant to ease the fiscal load amid a slowing economy and limited financing, and the province is still weighing an extension.
Port modernization proceeds on schedule. Completed works include upgraded loading pipelines and the Spraycool dust‑suppression system; a high‑capacity truck tipper is under construction to raise unloading speed tenfold and improve safety. Future upgrades will add solar panels, automatic pipe‑cutting equipment and enhanced aspiration systems to cut emissions. On 12 July the province launched the Provincial Table for the Technological Transition of the Cargo and Logistics Sector, bringing together more than 150 companies, chambers, universities and technical institutes. Coordinated by Juan Manuel Agustín and Andrea Magnani, the body will draft a roadmap through the second half of 2026 for new technologies, greenhouse‑gas pilot projects and an energy transition in freight.
Air cargo activity kept its growth trajectory. In the first half of 2026 Rosario International Airport handled 1,942 cargo flights—58.3 % of Santa Fe’s air‑freight movements—up 16.4 % from 2024, 32.5 % from 2023 and 80.9 % from 2022, with 1,133 international operations. Sauce Viejo Airport also posted a 25.8 % increase, recording 809 cargo flights.
