Santa Maria di Pozzano tunnel reopens on SS145 Sorrentina

The Santa Maria di Pozzano tunnel on the SS145 Sorrentina highway has fully reopened, restoring regular traffic flow between Castellammare di Stabia and Vico Equense. The reopening follows successful repairs to the tunnel’s fire protection system, which had been damaged by a violent storm and mudflow on September 25.

Anas completed the repairs ahead of schedule after acquiring specialized components necessary to fix the emergency equipment. The work focused on the section between kilometer 0.000 and 3.700. With the full functionality of the safety systems restored, the temporary bypass that diverted traffic onto the old coastal route has been deactivated.

The restoration of the five-kilometer tunnel is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Vico Equense and improve mobility for commuters, commercial transport, and tourists traveling to the Sorrento Peninsula.
