Santa Monica house fire kills elderly couple

An elderly couple in their 90s died early Sunday morning following a house fire in the 500 block of Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica. Firefighters responded to the call shortly before 3 a.m. and found the two-story, English Tudor-style home engulfed in flames.

Fire crews located the two victims in a first-floor bedroom. Although firefighters provided advanced life support, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, as relatives are being notified.

While the residents typically had a caretaker on duty, officials noted that no one was present at the time of the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Santa Monica Fire Department.
