Santa Rosa de Lima feast day celebrated in Peru

The feast day of Santa Rosa de Lima is celebrated on August 30, a date that remains a national holiday in Peru despite the universal Catholic Church moving the liturgical commemoration to August 23 following the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

In Quives, special religious activities are organized to honor the saint. These include a Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of Santa Rosa de Lima and the traditional practice of placing letters containing personal intentions, prayers, and thanksgivings into the saint's well. Organizations such as ‘Perú Católico’ facilitate these spiritual journeys by collecting virtual letters to be presented at the sanctuary, allowing devotees both in Peru and abroad to participate in the devotion.
