Santander boosts Sunderland funding to £100,000 annually as global education reach hits 9.9 million in 2025

Santander has signed a new agreement with the University of Sunderland, doubling its annual support for students, graduates and budding entrepreneurs to £100,000 until 2026-2027.

In 2025, Santander’s global initiatives in education, employability and entrepreneurship, along with financial education and social action, aided about 9.9 million people and organizations worldwide, supported by an investment of €163.8 million—up about 9% from the previous year.

Together, the Sunderland partnership and the broader programs underscore Santander’s ongoing commitment to education and economic opportunity across its international footprint.
