Sant'Anna Hospital in Caserta Successfully Closes Cerebral Aneurysm

A delicate endovascular procedure was performed at the Azienda Ospedaliera Sant'Anna e San Sebastiano in Caserta, successfully closing an aneurysm of the distal middle cerebral artery in a patient transferred from another province by emergency services. The operation involved a multidisciplinary team of neuro‑surgery, neurology, interventional neuroradiology and stroke‑unit specialists, under the direction of hospital director Gennaro Volpe.

The hospital used a newly installed biplane angiography system and a dedicated interventional neuroradiology suite, enabling faster and more precise treatment of both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. The centre is being positioned as a level‑II hub in the Campania stroke network, expanding its capacity to serve patients from across the region.
