Santarem Police Operations Lead to 18 Arrests and Large Drug Seizure
In a two‑day operation on 17‑18 July, more than 130 officers from the Santarém district command of Portugal's Public Security Police (PSP), supported by units from the Lisbon metropolitan command, carried out extensive traffic and criminal investigations across the seven municipalities under its jurisdiction.
The operations resulted in the detention of 18 individuals for offences including possession of an illegal firearm, drug trafficking, driving under the influence, driving without a licence and other violations. Police also recorded 53 traffic infractions, seized 19 vehicles, and confiscated 57 doses of hashish, two doses of cocaine, a prohibited weapon and two bladed weapons.
