Santarém to host Mirandês cultural celebration

The Sociedade Recreativa Operária (SRO) will host the “Dia do Mirandês” in Santarém on October 17. The event aims to promote the traditions of the Terras de Miranda through various cultural activities.

The program includes bagpipe performances in the historic center, an exhibition dedicated to the “Capa de Honras Mirandesa” at the Bernardo Santareno Reading Room, and a conference regarding the history and preservation of the Mirandese language. The celebration will conclude with a community dinner featuring traditional “posta mirandesa” cuisine. The initiative is supported by the municipalities of Santarém and Miranda do Douro.
