Santiago del Estero opens Juan Felipe Ibarra sports complex with Olympic‑standard skate park
The municipal government of Santiago del Estero inaugurated the Juan Felipe Ibarra Sports Complex on Sunday. The 14,000‑square‑metre facility, located on the Costanera Sur about a kilometre south of the Juan Francisco Borges bridge, includes an Olympic‑level street skate‑boarding track of 900 m², a 400 m² park section, and a 440 m² hockey‑on‑skates court with a granite‑tile floor.
Mayor Ing. Norma Fuentes presided over the opening ceremony at 19:00, while sporting activities began at 15:00. The complex also offers parking, LED lighting, irrigation for the surrounding grass, benches, and shaded walkways, all fenced and accessed through a flag‑coloured entrance portal.
The development aims to provide modern recreational infrastructure for the city’s residents and to promote skate‑boarding and roller‑hockey at a competitive level.
