Sports infrastructure development in Santiago del Estero

Overview

In Santiago del Estero, local authorities have expanded sports infrastructure through new facilities and land agreements.

In late July, the municipal government inaugurated the Juan Felipe Ibarra Sports Complex. The 14,000-square-metre facility includes an Olympic-standard street skateboarding track, a park section, and a hockey-on-skates court. The development was intended to provide modern recreational infrastructure and promote competitive skateboarding and roller hockey.

Following this, in August, the Municipality of the Capital signed an agreement with the Volleyball Federation of Santiago del Estero. The agreement grants the federation use of land in the Campo Contreras neighborhood to establish institutional headquarters for sporting, social, and recreational activities aimed at supporting local volleyball and newcom clubs.
