Chile announces major regional infrastructure and energy projects
Chile is seeing several significant regional infrastructure and energy developments. In the Los Lagos region, an agreement between the regional government, MINVU, and local municipalities will allocate over $25 billion CLP to create the Sebastián Piñera Metropolitan Park in Puerto Montt and improve La Toma Park in Río Negro.
In the Metropolitan Region, the Santiago government and San Joaquín municipality have signed an agreement to build the first public veterinary hospital. With an investment of $5.449 billion CLP, the facility will provide specialized high-complexity care for dogs and cats, accessible via municipal referral systems.
In Ñuble, the Monterrico Solar photovoltaic project has received environmental approval. The $306 million USD investment involves over 400,000 solar panels and a battery storage system, expected to create up to 400 jobs during construction. Additionally, the municipality of Cobquecura is seeking funding for rural road paving and potable water projects through meetings with national ministers.
In Iquique, the mining company Collahuasi is coordinating with local authorities to begin works on the Paseo Baquedano in the historic district, aiming to start construction before the end of the year.
