Santo Domingo Este police arrest suspect in teenage girl's murder

Police in Santo Domingo Este have arrested a 40-year-old man, Luis Miguel Santiago Guzmán, in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl, Zaidy Fragoso Lizardo. Her body was discovered on Friday morning in the Alma Rosa sector, near the Mella highway.

Forensic examinations determined the cause of death was hypovolemic shock resulting from wounds sustained. During the investigation, homicide detectives and forensic technicians recovered clothing from the suspect that appeared to have bloodstains, as well as a screwdriver found in a white Mazda Demio vehicle linked to the suspect via surveillance footage.

The National Police are continuing their investigation in coordination with the Public Ministry to establish the motive and exact circumstances of the crime. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the authorities for legal proceedings.
