Santo Domingo Metro Line 2C ends free service period
The free service period for Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro concludes this Monday, marking the transition to regular fare collection. The Empresa Metropolitana de Transporte (EMT) announced that a standard fare of RD$20 per trip will now apply, while an integrated fare of RD$35 will be charged for users combining the Metro, Teleférico, and buses.
With the end of the free period, entry and exit turnstiles will be fully operational across the entire network. Passengers are required to validate their rechargeable or single-load cards both when entering and exiting stations. In certain stations, including four linked to the Los Alcarrizos Teleférico, users may also pay using bank cards.
Line 2C is a 7.3-kilometer extension of Line 2, featuring five new stations stretching from María Montez to Pablo Adón Guzmán. The extension was designed to improve mobility for residents of Los Alcarrizos and surrounding areas by providing a mass transit alternative to the Duarte Highway congestion.
