Santo Domingo residents demand urgent road and drainage repairs

Residents in several sectors of Santo Domingo are demanding urgent infrastructure repairs due to deteriorating road conditions and inadequate drainage.

In Los Frailes II, residents of Santo Domingo Este have called on authorities to reconstruct a culvert on Teo Cruz Street. They report that stagnant water, caused by clogged drains and a lack of proper filtration, has led to bad odors and mosquito proliferation. The accumulation of water makes transit difficult, forcing motorists to use sidewalks and creating safety risks for pedestrians.

Similarly, in the Los Hidalgos urbanization within the La Ciénaga sector, community members report that they have waited over 15 years for street repairs. Residents describe roads covered in stones, dust, and mud, which complicates daily activities and causes respiratory issues due to excessive dust. Some inhabitants have resorted to using sandbags to fill potholes in front of their homes to allow vehicle access.
