Santo Tomé police raid targets vehicle forgery network

Police in Santo Tomé, Corrientes, have conducted a raid on a residence in the Barrio 28 Viviendas neighborhood as part of an investigation into a criminal network specializing in vehicle theft, cloning, and document forgery.

The operation resulted in the seizure of a Fiat 147 with an altered chassis number, two Honda Wave motorcycles with falsified documentation, and a Corven Energy motorcycle lacking legal proof of ownership. Authorities noted that the seized vehicles featured erased identification numbers and apocryphal titles.

The investigation follows a series of previous seizures in the region dating back to late August. While police work to dismantle the organized group responsible for falsifying public documents, some individuals have come forward to file fraud complaints after discovering they had purchased vehicles in good faith that were part of the criminal scheme.
