Santos implements flood prevention and hosts pedestrianism race
The city of Santos is implementing several infrastructure and community measures. To prepare for forecasted heavy rains, the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Services (Seinfra) has removed landfill from a section of the Avenida Jovino de Melo canal. This preventive action increases water flow capacity and drainage efficiency. The work is part of a R$ 2.03 million project to construct a new bridge, which includes upgrading drainage networks and protecting water supply pipelines.
Additionally, approximately 2,000 runners are participating in the 3rd stage of the 39th Santos Pedestrianism Championship. The 10 km race, held at the CER Rebouças, has caused significant traffic disruptions and public transport diversions in the Ponta da Praia region. The local traffic engineering company (CET) has implemented road closures and bus route changes to accommodate the event.
