Urban management and infrastructure in Santos

Overview

The city of Santos is undertaking infrastructure and community management efforts. To mitigate risks from forecasted heavy rains, the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Services (Seinfra) has begun removing landfill from the Avenida Jovino de Melo canal to improve drainage efficiency. This is part of a R$ 2.03 million project involving the construction of a new bridge and the upgrading of drainage networks and water supply pipelines.

In a separate community event, approximately 2,000 runners participated in the 3rd stage of the 39th Santos Pedestrianism Championship. This 10 km race at CER Rebouças necessitated road closures and public transport diversions in the Ponta da Praia region, managed by the local traffic engineering company (CET).
