Sara Duterte impeachment trial resumes over confidential funds

The Senate impeachment court resumed proceedings on August 11, 2026, marking the 14th day of the trial against Vice President Sara Duterte. The session follows a one-day suspension caused by the southwest monsoon.

Central to the day's testimony is Xylene del Campo, an auditor from the Commission on Audit Intelligence and Confidential Funds Audit Office (COA-ICFAO). Del Campo is expected to testify regarding the audit of confidential funds used by Duterte during her tenure as vice president and Department of Education secretary between late 2022 and late 2023.

Key points of the testimony include the examination of over 4,000 acknowledgment receipts. Del Campo has previously indicated that certain expenses cited by the Office of the Vice President—such as tree-planting activities, the provision of wheelchairs, and Christmas parties—may not be permitted under existing joint circulars for confidential fund usage. The prosecution is also scrutinizing the identities of payees listed on various receipts.
