Sarah Sjöström aims for 100th career medal at Paris European Championships

Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjöström, now 33, has returned from maternity after giving birth to her son Adrian and is competing at the European Championships in Paris. She will contest the 50‑metre freestyle and butterfly events, targeting her 99th and 100th international medals, 18 years after first becoming European champion at age 14.

Since her comeback she recorded a 24.36‑second 50 m freestyle in Stockholm and improved to 23.86 seconds in Rome, making her the third‑fastest swimmer of the season and the fastest in Europe. She said she “just took things day by day” and “was hoping simply to feel good.” Sjöström also has the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics in her sights.
