Sarajevo Film Festival prepares for 32nd annual edition

The 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) is set to take place from August 14 to 21, positioning the city as a regional hub for cinema. The festival features a diverse program, including midnight screenings of unconventional regional films such as the animated zombie apocalypse “Bruca Braca Bruda Brada – Zombi apokalipsa” by the Helem Nejse collective.

Selected films from prestigious international festivals like Cannes, Berlin, and Venice will be showcased. Notable entries include the Slovenian film “Skriveni ljudi” directed by Miha Hočevar, which will have its regional premiere, and the documentary “Zabranjena tetka” by actress Bojana Novaković.

In addition to the film screenings, Sarajevo is hosting various cultural events, including the “Bridge of Friendship” international spectacle and the “Festival u Centru” in Hastahana park. While the festival brings significant international attention and business partners, some local residents have expressed concerns regarding city cleanliness and infrastructure readiness ahead of the influx of visitors.
