Sarajevo initiates protection and revitalization plan for Skenderija center

The Sarajevo Canton Government has launched the development of a management plan for the protection and revitalization of the Skenderija Cultural and Sports Center. The initiative aims to preserve the architectural, historical, and social values of the complex while ensuring its long-term sustainability and integration into modern urban needs.

A newly established expert working group, led by architect Amir Vuk Zec, held its first meeting on October 23. The group includes specialists from the University of Sarajevo's Faculty of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Architecture, representatives from the Cantonal Institute for the Protection of Cultural, Historical, and Natural Heritage, and members of the Association of Architects of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The plan will involve comprehensive analyses of the center's structural condition, historical significance, current functions, and economic business models. It will also address ownership and legal relationships to establish a professional foundation for future economic and legal decisions regarding the development of this Sarajevo landmark.
