Skenderija center revitalization in Sarajevo

Overview

Following concerns regarding structural decay and maintenance at the Skenderija cultural and sports center, the Government of Sarajevo Canton formed a professional commission to determine the facility's future. Commission members emphasized that decisions regarding the complex must be based on technical, economic, and architectural analyses.

The initiative has evolved into a formal management plan for the protection and revitalization of the center. An expert working group, led by architect Amir Vuk Zec and including specialists from the University of Sarajevo and heritage institutes, has begun conducting comprehensive analyses. This process aims to address the center's structural condition, historical significance, and economic models to ensure the long-term sustainability of the landmark.
