Sarajevo Photography Festival highlights regional exhibits and talks on memory, migration and the Olympics

The Sarajevo Photography Festival's fifth day featured the opening of several exhibitions, including Serbian director‑photographer Stefan Đorđević’s “Family of Wind” at the Historical Museum, Croatian photographer Inja Herenčić’s “I carried a comb in my backpack” at Galerie MAK, and a talk by Zagreb‑based creative director Mislav Mironović on his transition from freeride to the creative industry. The day also saw the promotion of Greek photographer Katerina Angelopoulou’s photo‑book “The Fumes of Mars”.

On the sixth day the programme continued with French photographer‑artist Pierre Mohamed‑Petit’s “Iridescence”, reflecting on the 2015‑2016 migrant crisis in French refugee camps, and Italian photographer Yvonne De Rosa’s “A MIA MADRE”, exploring archive, memory and fiction. Additional events included a “Publishing Under Pressure” Book Table Talk at the Goethe‑Institute, a “No Pressure Portfolio Review” at Europe House, and Sebastian Wells’s performance lecture “ARENA” at the Olympic Museum, which examined the Olympic Games as a global spectacle. Across multiple venues, the festival underscored photography’s role in documenting personal and collective histories, migration experiences, and societal narratives.
