Sarajevo Pride Parade Calls for LGBTIQ+ Equality and Legal Reform
The seventh Bosnia‑Herzegovina Pride march took place in Sarajevo on Saturday under the slogan “Sve nam boje dobro stoje” (All our colours look good). Hundreds of activists, citizens, politicians and representatives of domestic and international organisations walked from Susan Sontag Square to Kemal Monteno Park, displaying banners demanding stronger anti‑discrimination legislation, safety in schools and public spaces, and full legal recognition of LGBTIQ+ rights.
Organisers highlighted progress in social attitudes but noted that institutions have not fulfilled any of their demands. Participants also voiced solidarity with Palestinian workers and broader social issues, carrying signs such as “Homofobija u vaša četiri zida” and “No Pride in Genocide”. Security was provided by Sarajevo Canton police, private guards and emergency‑medical teams.
Key figures present included EU Delegation chief Luigi Soreca, Bosnian ministers Edin Forto and Duška Jurišić, and local party leaders. Jurišić described LGBTIQ+ persons as among the most vulnerable groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing the need for fuller rights protection.
