Sarajevo pushes forward major Marijin Dvor redevelopment project

The Sarajevo City Council will revisit the regulatory plan for the "Kvadrant C – Marijin Dvor" area on 27 July, a scheme that envisions one of the capital’s largest urban transformations. The plan calls for the construction of the World Trade Center Sarajevo, a new phase of the Importanne centre, a diplomatic‑consular complex, two new office towers, a public square, a pedestrian zone linking the future WTC with Vilson Walk, and the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art. To create space for these developments, 22 existing structures—including the cantonal Ministry of Interior building—will be demolished.

The University of Sarajevo (UNSA) expressed satisfaction with recent amendments to the plan that improve traffic arrangements around the university’s southern campus. The city accepted UNSA’s recommendations, relocating certain road connections to enhance safety for students and staff. UNSA noted that some traffic solutions still need refinement and called for continued cooperation with the Cantonal Planning Institute and the cantonal government to finalize functional, safe, and sustainable campus infrastructure.
