Malaysia Day 2026 celebrations held across Sarawak, Sabah, and Pahang
Malaysia Day 2026 was celebrated across various regions, with the national-level event held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Sarawak. The celebration, themed ‘Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati’, drew thousands of attendees despite regional haze.
During the national ceremony, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced several initiatives to support citizens and strengthen federal-state relations, including improved diesel subsidies via the BUDI program, RM500 one-off flight ticket assistance for students entering public universities, and an interim payment of RM1.5 billion for Sabah and Sarawak. The Prime Minister also noted that nine out of 13 issues regarding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) have been resolved.
State-level celebrations also took place in Sabah and Pahang. In Sabah, officials emphasized that well-being must be felt through economic opportunity and cultural preservation. In Pahang, over 7,000 people gathered in Temerloh for festivities including cultural performances and community walks to honor the spirit of national unity.
