Sarawak implements greening initiatives through school community programs

In Kuching, Sarawak, a corporate social responsibility program involving community cleaning and tree planting is being utilized to foster environmental awareness among students. The initiative, which includes the involvement of Sarawak Energy Berhad, aims to align with the state's Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) to ensure sustainable development.

Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department, noted that the program targets the planting of approximately 500 trees and flowering plants at SRA Datuk Haji Mohamad Mortadza Haji Daud. This effort could bring the total number of trees at the school to 1,000, potentially creating one of the greenest school environments in Sarawak over the next decade. The project also supports national goals to plant 50 million trees across the country.
