Kuching to host national Malaysia Day celebrations on September 16
Kuching is preparing to host the national-level Malaysia Day celebrations on September 16, with approximately 5,000 guests expected to attend the main event at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, confirmed that the ceremony will feature addresses by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. The program includes the signing of the Malaysia Day Special Book, the recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge, and musical performances by artists such as Dayang Nurfaizah, Stacy, and Faizal Tahir.
In addition to the BCCK ceremony, a fireworks display is scheduled to take place at the Kuching Waterfront near the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex. Related festivities include an exhibition at Plaza Merdeka from September 10 to 16, as well as religious thanksgiving ceremonies scheduled for September 14 and 15.
