Sardegna Ricerche launches 1.75 million euro biomedical technology fund
Sardegna Ricerche has launched the ‘Next Step PoC – NEXT’ call for proposals, providing 1.75 million euros to develop new biomedical technologies and bring prototypes closer to the market. The initiative aims to facilitate technology transfer and the creation of new entrepreneurial ventures within the region.
Targeted areas for innovation include diagnostic systems, innovative treatments, medical devices, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, telemedicine, clinical informatics, and One Health approaches. Supported projects can focus on market entry, technological scaling, or strengthening intellectual property protection.
Regional Councilor for Programming and Budget, Giuseppe Meloni, stated that the funding supports projects with demonstrated potential to transform scientific expertise into economic opportunities. The program leverages advanced infrastructure, such as the BIOMED Platform with excellence laboratories located in Pula and Alghero, to bridge the gap between scientific research and industrial application.
