Sardinia activists protest wind farm construction

Activists from the Sa Bardiania de sa Nurra group are protesting the construction of the Alas wind farm project between Ittiri and Villanova Monteleone in Sardinia. The project, approved by the regional government, aims to install ten wind turbines with a total capacity of 66 megawatts.

Protesters claim the construction is irreversibly altering the landscape and destroying ancient cork oak forests. They report that steel and concrete are replacing wooded areas and that trees are being buried under soil used for backfilling. The group expressed deep concern over the impact on the local environment, including the destruction of rock formations and the accumulation of fine dust around the turbine foundations.
