EIB and Intesa Sanpaolo launch 300 million euro housing initiative

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Intesa Sanpaolo have signed a 300 million euro agreement to support the development of affordable housing and student residences in Italy. Acting as an intermediary through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking division, Intesa Sanpaolo will facilitate investments that could reach a total of 600 million euros by involving public and private operators. The EIB funding can cover up to 50% of eligible project costs.

This initiative aims to address the rising demand for accessible housing, particularly in areas with high demographic and university pressure. EIB Vice President Gelsomina Vigliotti stated that guaranteeing access to housing strengthens the social fabric and supports the country's future.

In other regional developments, the Sardinia region has allocated 30 million euros for disability assistance in schools through the Studis and Princ06 funds. Meanwhile, Puglia has announced a 66 million euro investment to fully cover Adisu scholarships for the 2026-2027 period, despite rising demand from students.
