Sardinia social and educational inclusion initiatives

Overview

The Autonomous Region of Sardinia has implemented several initiatives aimed at social and educational inclusion. Initially, the region launched the FAST (Fare Sport Tutti) program, a three-year, 12.5 million euro initiative designed to provide sports vouchers to minors and vulnerable individuals to combat social isolation and educational poverty. Due to receiving approximately 30,000 applications, officials indicated that current funding would only cover about 8,400 beneficiaries, prompting requests for additional European Social Fund Plus resources.

Following this, the region allocated 30 million euros specifically for disability assistance in schools. This funding, sourced from the Studis and Princ06 tenders, is intended to provide specialized support for students, particularly those aged zero to six. This allocation follows union protests regarding resource shortages for students with severe disabilities. However, Regional Councilor Ilaria Portas noted that the region has simultaneously faced cuts to administrative, technical, and auxiliary personnel.
