Sardinia allocates 5.2 million euros for ecocenters and waste reclamation

The Sardinia Regional Government has approved a program totaling over 5.2 million euros to fund the creation and completion of ecocenters and the reclamation of areas degraded by waste abandonment.

Proposed by Environmental Defense Councilor Rosanna Laconi, the funding will be distributed through agreements with beneficiary municipalities. The allocation includes 834,200 euros for collection centers in thirteen municipalities and 1,398,960 euros for environmental recovery efforts across thirteen municipal territories.

Additional resources include 3 million euros for the municipality of Cagliari, stemming from the 2025 regional stability law. New ecocenters are planned for San Gavino, Erula, and Tempio Pausania, while completion works will target several other locations including Iglesias, Sorso, and Villamassargia. The funds are sourced from the environmental fund, which is supported by taxes on landfill waste disposal.
