Sardinia and Tuscany governors discuss healthcare reform
The governors of Sardinia and Tuscany, Alessandra Todde and Eugenio Giani, held a debate regarding healthcare challenges and potential programmatic convergences. A primary focus of the discussion was addressing systemic deficiencies, such as long waiting lists and the strain on emergency rooms.
Both leaders identified the implementation of community houses (case di comunità) and the strengthening of family medicine as essential solutions. The goal is to restore a reliable physical point of reference for patients to alleviate pressure on emergency departments. Tuscany has already inaugurated approximately 50 community houses, with plans to reach between 120 and 130 through PNRR funding, serving as a model for regional healthcare reform.
