Sardinia fights multiple forest fires with fire trucks, helicopters and air tankers
Firefighters from the Olbia and Arzachena districts, supported by the national fire corps, a Canadair aircraft and regional helicopters, are battling a blaze in the Portisco area of Sardinia. The operation involves ground crews, forest guard personnel and civil‑protection volunteers, focusing on containing the fire near Milmeggiu.
Separate fires have also erupted in the municipalities of Thiesi (Chessa Muri) and Teulada (Masoni de Susu). The regional forest service deployed four helicopters, including a Super Puma, from bases in Anela, Fenosu, Pula and Iglesias, to assist ground teams. All incidents are being coordinated by local fire‑operation directors, with efforts aimed at limiting damage and preventing further spread.
