Sardinia implements stricter waste disposal fines and surveillance
Local authorities in Sardinia are addressing increasing issues with illegal waste disposal. In Castelsardo, the municipal administration has approved a resolution to increase fines and enhance surveillance to deter improper waste management. Fines for incorrect disposal are set at 40 euros, while abandoning waste can result in penalties of 200 euros, rising to 500 euros for hazardous or special waste. The municipality plans to install new video surveillance cameras to identify violators.
In the Costa Verde region, specifically within the municipality of Arbus, significant waste accumulation has been reported along the coastline from Torre dei Corsari to Scivu. Residents and local officials have noted litter, including bags and broken beach equipment, scattered across beaches, dunes, and village squares. Local citizens have expressed frustration regarding the degradation of the area despite the collection of tourist taxes.
