Corepla warned that medium-term difficulties persist due to a collapse in the recycling market, where the economic value of recycled plastic fell significantly compared to low-priced virgin plastic imported from countries like China. This market shift caused companies to stop purchasing recycled materials, leading to the saturation of storage and selection centers. National concerns regarding the recycling supply chain are intensifying. Gianni Mannucchi, President of the Environmental Services Section of Unindustria, has warned that a lack of outlets for recycled materials threatens to paralyze urban collection services. Similar infrastructure and collection difficulties have been reported in the Lazio and Puglia regions. In Alghero, local officials have raised alarms over the potential closure of the Monte Doglia waste facility, which could impact the local construction sector.
